Chloe Young is a freshman journalist from Dallas, currently studying at Moody College of Communication at the University of Texas in Austin. In high school, she pursued an independent study in the field of New Media Journalism, mentoring under journalists at D Magazine and the Dallas Morning News. She finds her passion in the power of modern day media and interactive, immersive storytelling. After starting her own society/culture podcast for Party For ONE in 2018, Chloe has continued to pursue audio storytelling as an audio reporter for the University’s student-run newspaper, the Daily Texan. As a staffer for the audio department, Chloe helps produce the paper’s weekly Odds and Ends podcast that highlights stories shaping University student life in Austin, TX.
As an Undergraduate Research Assistant for the Media Ethics Initiative at the Center for Media Engagement, she hopes to encourage broader understanding and engagement surrounding the pressing ethical dilemmas that shape American media. She also seeks to create and promote tangible tools that best aid students and educators, media institutions, and citizens in incorporating democratic, ethical media practices into their everyday lives amidst a divided, and often hostile, digital landscape.
When she’s not busy producing, consuming, and researching the news, you can find Chloe at a local coffee shop, small concert venue, museum, or anywhere in which people, culture, art, and good music are involved.
